The Last Kiss
I'm so mellow right now... I just came back from seeing The Last Kiss and it's put me in a really mellow mood. It's a movie based on a very real thing: the quarter-life crisis. Starring an excellent ensemble cast with Zach Braff and Paul Haggis at the helm of the screenplay, the crisis happening among these 20-somethings brought to the screen. It begins with four friends in Wisconsin: one recently heart-broken, one is married with a baby, one player, and one architect (Zach Braff) who is the protagonist in the film. It's a film about the fork in the road where you start questioning the path you have taken in life and where it will lead you. It's a film about the questions everyone thinks about and how they react to them and then, the actions they take that in turn cause people around them to react. I find it very compelling because it's so real that it's scary. These worries they have, we all think about, and this movie shows how doubt can breed paranoia and panic. The characters were portrayed really well by the cast and as depressing as the topic may be, I found this movie really well done. The choice of music is awesome (see Garden State) as well.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to revisit one of my favourite scenes that brought a tear in my eye. I probably won't be able to get Coldplay's Warning Sign out of my system for days.
