yay rant
This probably won't be much of a rant because I haven't exactly been ranting lately. Mainly because I haven't had the need to... or maybe it's because I don't know what words I need to use to express the proper rant... but anyways... here goes
I read this story in Red Eye the other day and it talks a lot about how all sorts of people are getting upset that their private self is being used to judge their professional self, etc. Man, don't you get it? The internet is a wildly public place - you can access anything within milliseconds - including stuff like your blogs/profiles. You're willingly posting this stuff - it's not like anybody is *stealing* any information.
And this whole thing about how what you do in private is your own business - well, if it affects somebody else, don't you think it's their business too? I mean, if people are ripping on the company they work at, the company's reputation is at stake. Sure, it's just a company but if you don't like them, don't work there.
It's like that whole recent 4 cent tennis ball cans debaucle on Amazon/Esportsline (or maybe nothing like it but it's my rant so I will rant on!). People left a bunch of negative feedback - sure some people are being jerks but most people really did just want that order of tennis balls because they actually USE them. I didn't buy cans and cans (or cases) of tennis balls because they are cheap so I can resell them. I bought them because I need them. And I'm being labelled a bad person for leaving negative feedback when the company refunded my money with no explanation. You people thinking you're all great because you either missed the deal or didn't leave negative feedback are just as bad.
So the company fixed things - I remove negative feedback. There's no sense in ripping on each other unnecessarily.
What's my point? Internet is fast. Information travels even faster nowadays. And don't be surprised if it bites you in the ass because you posted some private information and other people are reading it... and perhaps judging you by it.

Who labeled you as a bad person?
