"What a difference a Green Day makes"

I can't remember where that came from (probably from an ancient Green Day song) but leave it to Billie Joe Armstrong to pull me out of my rut and make me feel super awesome! I've always been a fan since grade 9 or 10... but then Nimrod and Warning were kind of disappointing for me. I can't believe these guys are still putting out albums steadily! They never self destructed or changed their line-up which is totally cool. So I think, after a 4-album absence, I bought American Idiot yesterday and it was exactly what I needed to feel energized again!
I was in this slump over the weekend and Monday was pretty bad. People like to run, go shopping, or whatever but seriously, music does it for me. Too bad I spend way too much buying CDs (yes I buy them... I don't have a good enough internet connection and adequate harddrive space to do otherwise!). For the record, I bought the Limited Edition packaging... that always gets me so excited.

I think I need to go to a concert... that'll give me energy :)

American Idiot sounds more mature in terms of their sound. It's pretty well produced compared to Dookie (which I also love) but it's funny how there are still themes that are pretty similar. I love the addition of ukeleles, pianos, different percussion... they've really grown up; less bratty and definitely more mature. I don't know how they churn out these punk pop songs for so many years. They are the original to the power-chord, 3-man, happy song band (see Blink 182).

And damn, some of the lyrics are simple yet so good... stuff about shattered dreams, drugs, girls, and Chicago AND Toronto got props in the same song!
