Miscellaneous bits

A LOT has happened in the last two weeks...
there were some difficult goodbyes; there was a week in Cancun; there was white water rafting in Ottawa; there was the Olympic-mania.
Nothing really important to say here but I just felt like telling you about all that.
I watched the MTV VMA's today... I love their creativity and how much money they spend on award shows that ultimately don't matter. I'm glad they're really trying to push young people to vote and making it all hip and stuff. At least they're trying to get people to vote on something important, something other than some viewer's choice pick. You know, you get all the celebrities to endorse voting (Vote or Die!) and then there's the easier slogan (Choose or Lose) and then it gets all flashy at the end with Andre 3000 silhouetted against a screen of flashing red, blue, and white. Hey at least they're trying.
The truth is, young people are too lazy to vote. I'm glad that Michael Moore is doing a good job of provoking people too... I guess it some roundabout way, George W Bush, as a horrible dictatorial president portrayed as a dimwit in Farenheit 9/11, he's convinced more young people to vote than ever... whether it be for him or not... but we all know which way the country is leaning towards.
Oh look, I did have something to say :)
Just a few observations:
- that GAP commercial with Sarah Jessica Parker and Lenny Kravitz is great. So much money in that; so wonderfully produced; don't miss out on the print ad version (I saw it in Vanity Fair - it's pretty darn cool). Love the ads. Bottom line - it's just jeans goddammit.
- Alexander comes out November 5. Looks like they're going into all this loosely historical storytelling again. Bottom line - Brad Pitt (Troy) vs Colin Farrell. Personally, I like Colin better.
- The Incredibles (Pixar's latest) is also coming out November 5. Looks like I'm going to be busy after that SOA exam. Can't wait for this one, still same trailer though. Bottom line - Pixar vs. Dreamworks (that shark movie with Will Smith is coming out I-forget-when).

Until the next late night...
